Next meeting

Hear from county officials at 6:30 pm, Thursday, March 14!

Rising Sun library. Please take the few minutes to show support for the cause. Thank you and see you Thursday!

Hello neighbors, many of you have heard of the great news from the county in that they have agreed to begin backpack spraying the safe natural bacteria Bti in the Octoraro Creek this spring and summer in hopes to combat the black fly plague in our area. The spray is just for insects that breed in water and does not affect insects that mosquitoes and humans not at all. This is great news but we cannot just accept that this is a complete win and therefore not continue our mission. Our next group meeting is at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 14 at the Rising Sun library. We will have two important guests from the county who personally visited our area to experience our issue firsthand and definitely experienced the wrath of the black flies. They have been an important player in fighting this issue for us at the county level. The county reached out to us to show their support in this fight and we need to show the same support.

With that being said, we highly encourage everyone in our group to join us for the next meeting to personally thank them and to also show who they are helping, who they are fighting for, to prove that this is worth the effort and the money, to show that this is important to a lot of people –not just the few that have shown up to the meetings. We simply can’t have the normal four to six people show up because that lack of engagement may make them feel we are not passionate enough about this and that it truly isn’t worth the effort that the county is putting into this issue. We all know how important this is to us but they will not understand that if we don’t show them. Please take even just a few minutes of your evening to stop by, even if it will be your first time attending. We are hoping to have at least 20 people to attend but please do not assume that others will show up and that you do not need to, we need everyone! We promise the few minutes of your evening this one time will be worth it to be able to finally spend time outside your house, have you kids play in the yard, be able to have a BBQ outside, sit around and sip on a beer after work, have your pets outside, etc.

Thank you and we hope to see everyone at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 14, at the Rising Sun library!
